Originally built in 1985, our client wanted to bring his grandmothers old house into the 21st century. Since the property plans to be a secondary home, the goal is to make the 5,700SF residence as energy efficient as possible. The design process led us to re imagine the house through the lens of passive house principals. Solar shingles on the roof and geothermal wells have also been explored as energy independent solutions.
